Excel 2007 : Conditional Formatting - how is " " interpreted

I have my conditional formatting to highlight cells that are in the TOP 5% and icon sets for 95% percentile.

If I have " ", is that excluded completely or is it the same as 0? Basically, I don't want any cells less than "level" to be included in the conditional formatting.

That's not a formula you would use for conditionally formatting a cell...

Conditional Formatting works on the result of the formula being TRUE or FALSE.. and it will format a cell when result is TRUE.

So not sure what the actual condition you want is to have the cell be formatted... and which cell(s) is/are to be formatted.

NBVC, I think the formula mentioned is actually in the cell the user wants to conditionally format. The conditional format in Excel 2007 is using the Top/Bottom rules and icon sets.

So, in short, if that formula in A1 results in " ", what will conditional formatting see it as (will it be included in the Top 5%, etc.?).

My suggestion to the user: Try it and see!
