Autofilter locks up sheet!

Anybody seen this?

Autofilter is turned on in a weekly spreadsheet that I receive. Functionality to move around by arrows or page up/down works until I select something out of an autofilter drop down. Screen locks in place. Can't arrow down or up (but can go left/right). Page up/down is broke also.

If I exit and re-enter it works until I filter. Scroll lock does nothing.

Any solutions?

Hi jzibton,

Always fun to take a guess without seeing the spreadsheet; so here's a couple:

1. Do you have "Window > Freeze Panes" activated on the spreadsheet?
If so, then turn this off and see if the problem goes away.

2. Are there any Comment boxes (Post-it notes), text boxes, or shapes on the spreadsheet?
If so, then go to the box/shape format properties and ensure that "Move and size with cells" is selected.

Thanks! It's a work around that is acceptable. The unfreeze fixes the issue. I can also 'refreeze' and it still works until I select another autofilter. Then I have to 'fix it' again.

The file is only about 500 lines x 9 columns but it's all text. Some of the text is pretty lengthy and it uses color coding and lots of links to other documents. Is it possible that it is a memory issue? (version is 2003)
