How to get the result of an equation in a cell

I will like to ask, if there is a way to get in a cell the result of a simple equation without having to copy the contents of that cell with a = in front for example if i have in one cell

    15*2+35*4+30/2

in the next cell to display the result

    185

    thank you

    Bart

    Re: Do the math!!

    hi Bart,

    Welcome to the forum

Can you please amend your thread title in accordance with Forum Rule 1?

    1. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.
To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 hours have passed ask a moderator to do it for you

Actually part of morefunc.xll (though you can use Named Range approach)

Per Rob's note though - OP to retitle first prior to posting any solution(s).

    Martin,

Look at the titles of the posts starting with the first. If they are all the same, it has not been changed.

Re: How to get the result of an equation in a cell

So going back to the question...

    A1: 15*2+35*4+30/2

You could create a named range...

    Name: Evaluate
    RefersTo: =EVALUATE(INDIRECT("RC[-1]",False))

    Then

    B1: =EVALUATE
    should return 185

    If say

    A2: 20*3.5
    B2: =EVALUATE --> 70
