    braket bug?

    Hi, im having a little problem with one function. Im usin excel 2003, sp3.

    I have this : =(J74+K74)*PUISSANCE((H60+H59)/1000,2)
    Where:
    J74=.56
    K74=.01
    H60=15.25
    H59=.05
    Doing this calculation with my calc im having 0.000133431
    Doing it with the formula in excel gets me 0.00013372
    Doing only the square function in excel gets me 0.00023409
    Doing only the square function with my calc gets me 0.00023409
    Doing the sum in excel gets me .57
    Doing the sum with my calc gets me .57
    Finally, if I do this function in excel =(.57)*PUISSANCE((H60+H59)/1000,2),
    I get 0.000133431
    So what am I doing wrong here?
    Thanks

    Re: braket bug?

    Hello Mr Chupon, and welcome to the forum.

    I'm using Excel 2007 sp2, and with your original function I'm getting the same result as your calculator. I don't get the "incorrect" value that your version of Excel is returning.

    My only suggestion is to check cells J74 and K74 and make sure they are EXACTLY 0.56 and 0.01. Perhaps they are actually 0.558372839 and 0.0099981 (or some long decimal that is being rounded to the numbers you see). Set the format of both cells to show about 8 decimal places. If they are truly 0.56 and 0.01, then you'll only see 0.56000000 and 0.01000000.

    Hope that helps!
