Angry IF function giving error message

I am no longer able to enter an IF function - I simply get the message "the formula typed contains an error". Existing IF functions still work but can't be edited. If I open the workbook with OpenOffice, enter the IF functions and save to Excel then it works - but still can't edit the formula from Excel. I have tried uninstalling Ms Office and reinstalling but problem persists. Anyone any idea what has gone wrong.

Shouldn't this formula have commas to separate the arguments? Where did they go?

Re: IF function giving error message

The formula you posted is not an If function

Where is the If function that you described as being a problem in your thread title and the original posting for this thread

Re: IF function giving error message

Maybe you can also post the workbook showing the problem and indicating when/where the problem occurs.
