Hope someone can help. I'm using Excel 2003 and have created a spreadsheet which (hopefully) helps compare different long term options for buying and maintaining building equipment.
One of the variables is length of time before equipment fails (and therefore needs replaced) and is user defined in months.
The spreadsheet counts up until one of the columns reaches a certain (user definable) value based on its condition level (percentage level). This then resets the count back to 1. I thought that I could use VLOOKUP in an IF statement to look for year 1 in that column and then return the previous year 1 value... however everything works with the Vlookup searching a given numberof rows, however when the user cahnges the number of months until failure, I can't see how to modify the Vlookup range automatically. Hope some of this makes sense, I can't attach the original file as I've stupidly left it at work, but I hoped that someone more intelligent than myself would know a solution (offset command maybe??). Anyway, here's hoping.
