    Excel Scrolling Help

    Hello,

I have a problem with scrolling in Excel i was hoping someone could help me with.

This issue is consistant with 2003 or 2007 and any worksheet

I have 1 PC where when I use the vertical scrollbar. I click on the square and drag it down the page. When I do this I can see the rows scroll by as I scroll.

On a second PC when I do the same thing the I get a littel ROW:# counter next to the scroll bar and it tells me what row I have scrolled too. Then when I let go it drops me off and updates the location of the document.

For the life of me I cannot find where this setting is set. I have looked at my Scroll Lock, Local Policies, Domain Policies, RDP Settings server and client side (I am Terminal Servicing to these machines), Excel settings, OS settings (Both Windows 2003 Server and Excel 2003 SP3), Registry, searched the web, and a number of other things all with no luck.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Excel Scrolling Help

The row numbers are displayed in xl2000 and xl2007. Not, as far as I can see, in xl2003.

Thanks for the reply. Please see attached images. Its a little hard to explain I hope this helps. I'm looking for how to switch between these two methods of scrolling. I have a user who escalated this (what I would consider a stupid nonissue) to a VP level who is now all over me

Does each users excel version have exactly the same version, SP and hotfixes applied?

I can not find any information about a setting, software or registry. Only that the feature was removed in xl2002 and restored in xl2007.

Yep same everything. I have tested 2 different users on the same machine and 1 of them was viewing while scrolling and the other was counting rows and not viewing.

Its something stored in the HKLU (NTUSER.DAT) and the default is the way the users do not want it.

    Re: Excel Scrolling Help

Thats interesting, I probably cant do a diff on NTUSERS.DAT because its binary BUT HKCU=NTUSERS.DAT so I can export the root of the key to a .reg file which will be text. I am going to try that out and see what I can find. I'll let you know my results.

    Thanks
