Values Lost when using a formula

Hi All, I'm facing a problem with Excel 2007:

I have a big spreadsheet which is shared and I have it over the network. This file contains formulas that retrieves values from others files in the network (all the files are on the same server, just different folders). And when someone open up the second file and change a value there, the value is updated and it's beign showed correctly on the first file. But, when the user closes the second file and keep the first file open, the values that were updated are automatically changed to #VALUE! error message. Does anyone knows why this is happening and how can I prevent it?

    Just to clarify:
I'm the user, and I opened two file file_A (the file with the links to the file_b)
    and file_B (source of data).
When I change the values on file_B, file_A it's updated. so I save and close file_B.
After I close file_B the value updated in file_a is changed to #VALUE error message.

    I hope anyone can help.
Thanks in advance and regards, Mauro.

    Welcome.

Some worksheet functions don't work with closed workbooks.
