Hyperlink path to defined names for uploaded workbooks

    Hi,

Apologies if I missed something but I couldn't find an answer to this:

I want to upload an Excel workbook to a webserver. The workbook contains hyperlinks to defined names within the workbook. Users will download the workbook to their own computer for performing various pay related calculations.

I am unsure if the hyperlinks I've set up will work when the user downloads the file. The hyperlinks are currently set to a path on my own computer (along the lines of file:///C:\Users\Brian\Desktop etc) but clearly this won't match the location to which the user downloads their copy.

My question: do I need to set the hyperlink base (in the File properties | Summary dialog) to something? Or will Excel 'automatically' know that the path is relative to wherever the user downloads their copy?

Thanks for any advice in advance.

    Brian

Excel 365 user. To unblock a downloaded macro-enabled workbook, go to your "Downloads" folder > right click on the workbook name > click 'Properties' > check the 'Unblock' checkbox. You can now open the workbook.

    SOLVED

It seems that Excel will automatically know that the path is relative. However, this only works by using the 'Insert | Hyperlink..' method rather than the HYPERLINK() formula
