Excel 2007 : How do I use countif with multiple criteria

I want to use the excel "countif" function to count multiple criteria in another workbook within the same worksheet. For example:

Column A Column B
Coordinated x
Paperboard
Non-coordinated

I only want to count the rows that have "coordinated" and an "x".

Give this a shot:

=SUMPRODUCT(--($A$1:$A$1000="coordinated"),--($B$1:$B$1000="x"))

Do you mean on different worksheets within the same workbook?

With Excel 2007 you can use COUNTIFS

=COUNTIFS(sheet1!A:A,"coordinated",Sheet1!B:B,"x")
