How to write same value in all cells at one go?

My question is a very simple one. I want to write "1" in the range A1:Z1. I know there is a way to do this rather than copy pasting those values.

I tried shift + select the range and then write 1 but it writes in only a1. I would appreciate if you help me on this.

Put in A1 1, in B1 1 and select both cells and extend to Z1

Or;
Select your entire range, click up in the formula bar and enter 1 and then CNTRL ENTER. The 1 should appear in all selected cells. Does that work for you?
