Problem maintaining horizontal or vertical alignment when resizing drawn lines

I frequently annotate Office documents using the Drawing tools available within all those applications.

My problem occurs when I resize lines I've drawn. I cannot get them to remain perfectly horizontal or vertical. I generally rely on the use of the Shift key while dragging to ensure that the line remains horizontal or vertical as I resize it.

But this doesn't work in Excel 2007 or PowerPoint 2007 (not sure of Word 2007),

The application insists on shifting the line-end I'm dragging to a grid that's off plumb by one increment.

I've checked to ensure that any "snap-to" options are disabled, though in the 2003 versions of these apps, the Shift key would override any snap options.

    This is driving me crazy!

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks, strider

    Dear Strider,

I see your problem and maybe I can tell you a temporary solution. I just have the same in hands now and still haven't find how to resolve it conveniently...:

My problem is the last text line inside a cell, witch persist to be 'cut' half, when printing the Excel 2007 document. Tough, in the Excel worksheet, the text it's just fine, all the words show up correctly.

The more amazing thing is that when opening the same document in Excel 2003 - after doing 'Format cell'\'alignment'\'vertical alignment' and choose 'centre' for the problematic cells -, when I print the document, everything is ok.

So for temporary solution in your case, try to do the same with the horizontal alignment (choose 'centre') and open it and print (if you need) with Excel 2003, instead 2007. This is a software bug, almost sure.

If you find or already found the solution for Excel 2007, please let me know.

    Regards,

    Tomaz
