    changing the decimal places without rounding the numbers

    Hi everyone,

    I hope you guys can again help me with my Excel issue.

    I was trying to decrease the decimal places of the data figures that I'm currently working on my report, however, it keeps rounding-up the decimal numbers. I wish to keep the original numbers and just decrease the decimal places.

    For example:
    The original figure is = 7260.12903225806
    Upon decreasing the decimal figures to just 2, the result became = 7260.13

    Is it possible for me to just have this result = 7260.12 instead of 7260.13?

    I've tried using the TRUNC formula butit does not work if the 2nd decimal value is 0.

    For example:
    The original figure is = 227161.905808985
    Upon applying the formula, the result became = 227161.9 instead of 227161.90

    Again, thank you thank you guys in advance for your usual help

    Use a combination of TRUNC to get the value you want, and a custom number format on the cell(s) of:

    #.00

    Re: changing the decimal places without rounding the numbers

    Thank you sooo much for your help JBeaucaire!

    I tried your suggestion and it worked, but with just a little problem... It doesn't seem right though for those cells with just a 0 value. Supposedly it will just stay as it is (0), but instead it displayed .00

    Is there something else that we can do about it?

    Appreciate your help a lot!

    A Custom Format can be seen to have 3 parts each separated by ;

    postive number format ; negative number format; 0

    So you can use JB's and setup a Format for 0, eg:

    #.00;[red](#.00);0

    Or alternatively you can use:

    [=0]0;#.00

    I hope that helps.

    I have looked at this and the simplest way, as I can see is, where the cell with the number with too many decimal places is A1, =(INT(A1*100)/100)
    this will reduce to 2 decimal place without rounding. I've tested it and it has worked for me!
