    Hiding Then Locking Columns

I set up a training exercise workbook. I could only think of using conditional formatting so that incorrect answers come out in red. However, I want to hide and then lock the answer key which is located several columns over. How do I do this?

    Thanks!

Right click on the column heading and choose HIDE. Next, go to TOOLS-Protection-Protect Sheet and enter a password of your choosing.

    Re: Hiding Then Locking Columns

Good Afternoon...assuming that your users will be change a cells value, by answering questions then I would think that you would first want to unlock those cells that are used for the answers. Assuming column H, for example, is used for updating or answers, then highlight that column or cells, right click, select format cells, select Protection tab, uncheck the 'locked' checkbox, click OK. Then from Tools, protection, protect your sheet.

This would also work if for example any group of cells will be used for editing, meaning say cells H2:J10 and H20:J30 are for editing, select your first group of cells (h2:j10), then with the control key, select the second group of cells, then right click, format cells...and so on....

    Hope that helps..
