    Search faciltity and H/VLOOKUP

Ooh the mental torture of being ignorant.

I have spent the last week searching this forum to find the solutions to my various problems, I'm in mental meltdown

I don't think that I can explain here what it is I need so I have attached a sample workbook/spreadsheets.

I have NO experience of Excel and have had a little help developing the attachment, my assistant has now gone AWOL

    Any/all help is extremely grateful.

with no explanation in the post and half a MB spreadsheet attached, there's little chance anyone will take this.

Yeah, you'll need to point to some cells and give us your desired "result" and how you figured it in your head. Then maybe we'll be able to suss out a formula to do the same thing.

    Re: Search faciltity and H/VLOOKUP

I hope that I can explain now what it is I am after achieving.

Hopefully the tangled mess in my head can be explained by these few steps and the attached worksheets.

1, I would like to enter data on one sheet and then it automatically updates the other sheets.

2, Each user requires access to different information, hence the 5 sheets.

3, Each user needs to be able to "search" for information by typing in one of two "codes".

4, This search facility needs to be simple.

5, I would like to be able to "show" or "hide" the data that is being searched.

Each sample worksheet contains ALL the fields that the user needs to access and an area where the "search" facility needs to be.

I hope that I have explained this clearly and I look forward to having a completed workbook that I can build on.

    Thanks

    Re: Search faciltity and H/VLOOKUP

    Sorry people,

There are 6 sheets on the attachment, the 6th one is the master, this will have ALL the information on, which the other sheets will get there information from.

    I hope that makes sense?

I really am a novice, so I would like to apologise now for any further errors!

Thumbs up Re: Search faciltity and H/VLOOKUP

I would just like to say that I have managed to partially solve this problem myself

I can update the "master" and have it update the other sheets by doing a basic VLOOKUP.

I have managed to create a "search" facility using VLOOKUP and this does exactly what I wanted

I have not figured out how to update all sheets from a sheet that isn't the "master".

Also when I "insert" a new row on the "master" it doesn't update the other sheets, why?

I'll keep trying to solve the remaing problems but any advice would be great.

Be sure to post up your updated book along with specific questions, it's sort of up in the air without that.

Angry Re: Search faciltity and H/VLOOKUP

Still no joy in uploading an attachment, is anyone else having this problem?

I am still struggling to understand how I can insert a row in my "master" sheet, and automatically insert the same row in the other sheets.

Any ideas how I may be able to do this, without being able to view my workbook?
