Excel doesn't execute the formula sometimes

    Hi,
I have a very basic Excel file to calculate what time to leave work based on when I come in to work and when I take my lunch break. This file is in attachment. However, the cell B2 sometimes executes, sometimes it doesn't. What could be the reason? Some people have suggested hit ctrl and back-quote (ctrl + `) twice but it doesn't help all the time either. Thanks.

    Hitting
    ctrl + `
Displays the formulas it won't activate a formula.
If you hit F9, the sheet will calculate, if you have to do this to calculate the sheet, then your Calculation is set to manual instead of Automatic

Go to the Tools menu, Options, then select the Calculations Tab, set Calculate to Automatic.

    Dave,
Thanks for your advice. I didn't know F9 calculates the sheet. I will try this next time the worksheet doesn't calculate. However, I had made sure that it has been set to auto-calculate. If it were consistently not calculating, then I would suspect some setting is not right. However, it is not consistent. 70% of the time, it automatically calculates when I update the cells. However, 30% of the time, it gives me trouble (not calculating). Then I quit and re-open the file a number of times. Suddenly it starts working without changing any settings.
Ok, I will try F9 next time it does it. Hopefully it solves my problem. Thanks for your reply again.
