    Gridlines and axis ticks misplaced

I am doing a scatter plot of several columns and have the x-axis grid lines turned on. What is apparent is that the grid lines and tick marks are slightly off. In my case, when the point value is 6.004 the tick mark and grid line for the value 6 draws through that point.

I am using Office 2003. This was tried in Office 2007 as well with the same result.

I can't seem to make the attachment as the file is ~2M in size. The problem does not appear to be an incorrect placement of the ticks and grid lines, but rather the reporting of the values when you move the cursor over the line. If you move the cursor to the value of time=62, the popup will display (62.04,3.1) rather than (62.00,3.1). I guess that cursor witness point is not exactly on the tip of the arrow, but off the the right slightly.

Are you sure the value is not 62.04 formatted to look like 62?

No, it isn't. I checked that. I got the example small enough to attach, so here it is. Grid_Tick Problem.xls

I think the issue is actually to do with the radius of detection of mouse hover as defined at OS level - didn't see that one coming eh?

Your computer has an area, normally a few pixels radius, movement within which does not constitute movement enough to redefine a hover area. That means that if you move towards a point slowly (by slowing I mean not very, very fast - fast enough that there are distinct gaps between subsequent, umpteenth-of-a-second cursor positions) you may well have triggered the beginning of counting for hover activation before you get to your final stop point.

This means you either need to redefine the hover radius to 1px*1px, use data labels, or zoom in to 1bn% zoom before hovering.

I think you're right! Maybe the search algorithm is starting at the upper right of the box and that is why it appears to be picking the first point there. Thanx a lot! I certainly won't want the find out the the ticks and grid lines have been off for all of this time.
