Indirect substitute problem

using the indirect substitute option, i have lost the ability to free text in a given cell.

Cell A ... Cell B ... Cell C
List ... Sub A ... Sub B

I want to be able to free text in C if a new option is available/ is not in the list.


ideas?

sorry about the double post, i didnt know how to delete the first one, and this one was easier to understand... or at least i hope it is.
