    Cursor Control

I am entering a lot of boring data into a spreadsheet five columns wide.

When I type the data into the fifth column and press Enter, I would like the cursor to jump to column one of the row below. Can this be done in Excel?

At the moment I am using the Arrow keys, one down and five left, but this is a waste of time.

    Regards

    Robin

    Re: Cursor Control

The easiest way, requires no code or anything, is to highlight the range of cells you're going to be working in, then edit the first cell while the data is highlighted.

Press Tab instead of Enter to move to the right, and when the active cell reaches the end of the highlighted range, Tab will jump you down a row and back to the beginning.

Using the ENTER key instead gets the same behavior, but the cursor moves down through a column, then jumps to the top of the next column.

This has the added benefit of being able to work at anytime with any range of cells. VBA would require management, possibly.

    Hi JB

Thanks so much, that works perfectly and I can even use Enter if I set the Properties to move cursor Right. You're a genius.

Not a genius...remember, it's always easy when you know how. (wink)

If that takes care of your need, be sure to EDIT your original post (Go Advanced) and mark the PREFIX box [SOLVED]
