    colour cell based on date

    It's quite funny that i'm asking this cause I answered a similar quesstion earlier. But I can't seem to get my head around the thinking of this one.

    I am trying to create a formatting so that if todays date is greater than the date in the cell the cell is coloured red. And if todays date is > today()-14 <today() the cell is coloured yellow.

    I don't think it is as simple as using conditionaly formatting, it may well be but like I said I can't quite get my head around what I need to do.

    And if todays date is > today()-14 <today()
    this doesn't make sense...
    Where there is a will there are many ways.

    Sorry should be:

    if todays date > date in cell -------------------> Red

    if date in cell >today-14 & <today -------------> Yellow

    Yeah that is right, I just found myself writing a little message trying to explain how it wasn't quite what i was looking for.

    I feel so silly, like I said just could get my head round it - i was thinking about it backwards. Just one of those moments, you know what you can't see the wood for the trees and that.

    Thanks again NVBC

    But is there a way of making it so that if cell is blank it doesn't add the conditional formatting?

    Yes, with Conditional Formatting, each condition is checked consecutively.. as soon as a condition is met.. it applies that format and stops....so you have to be careful the order you write the conditions in... just like a normal nested IF() formula....
