    Disable "Read only" message

    I have a macro which opens a file which is already open with another user. This is not a problem as I don't want to edit it - I am happy to have it as "read only". I copy some data and then close it.

    When the other user later closes the file, I get the message box " "x.xls" is now available for editing. Choose Read-Write to open it for editing." I never want to edit x.xls, - is there anyway of disabling this message?

    As Shg says you just need to modify your macro code to open the file read only:
