    Assigning a function key

In Excel 2007, hitting the ' Alt ' key allows keyboard Ribbon Selection - hit again, and this is released. My machine also does this when I hit the Forward Slash key ( / ), but will not reverse unless I hit 'Enter' key or select a new cell. If I hit the apostrophe key ( ' ) then Forward Slash, the Slash is displayed normally. How can I stop this action by the forward slash key enabling keyboard Ribbon Input ??
