excel drop down lists don't import to database

Hi, I'm trying to import data from an Excel spreadsheet into FileMaker and/or an Oracle database. The Excel sheet contain drop down lists that have been selected by other users. When I try to import, however, the data for those cells is empty.

Any advice on how to get around this? Is there a way to convert the 'selected' drop down lists to normal text within the cell?
