    Retain Excel Formatting after Calculations

    Hello,

I have an Input spreadsheet, where the user can enter data in various formats ($, % etc). There is another sheet that does the calculations automatically based on the data entered by the user. However the calculations are not picking up the format that the user has chosen. Is there any workaround I can use that the formula will detect the format from the input cell and then apply it to the calculated fields without using a Macro.

    Regards,

    No, there isn't.

If you enter a formula in a cell formatted as General, and the formula includes a reference to a cell with different formatting, the cell with the formula will change to the formatting of the referenced cell. But if you then change the formatting of the referenced cell, the format of the cell with the formula will not change.
