    Disable Undo

I am finding that deleting columns or large sections of data on a worksheet can take a very long time.
This may be due to Excel trying to save the data to allow a subsequent undo action.
Can anyone advise me how to disable the saving action where I am not concerned with subsequent undo?
    Thanks
