using hyperlinks in excel

i have created a database for work where i use a large number of hyperlinks to reference other documents relavant to each data entry.

does excel have an upper limit to the number of hyperlinks within a worksheet? do pathways have a tendency to become corrupt the more hyperlinks you use? can i protect hyperlinks to prevent the chance of corruption in the pathway?

i wouldn't have though so to all of those! probably your fingers would get worn out first. they are not volatile so no recalculation is necessary. but someone else may think different
