    excel comparing rows

    Hello.

    I've been scratching my head trying to solve this, but here is an example.

    2 24 15 85

    9 42 19 66

    what i want to do, is compare the 2-9, 24-42, 15-19 and 85-66

    The 2 to the 9 would result with +7
    24:42 = +18
    15:19= +4
    85:66= -19

    I just like to know if this is even possible to compute and display in the 5th cell.

    Are the numbers in different cells, or are all 4 numbers in the same cell? What do you mean by display in the 5th cell (location)? A5? E1? What do you want to display? Each result separately in one cell, each result in different cells?

    lets say this

    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10


    B 1 2 6 24 40 +5 -1 +6 -6 +22
    C 6 1 12 30 62

    I am comparing row B to row C, and computing the difference in row b cells 6-10.

    I should of previewed the post, that did not come out right.

    Lets say this.
    A B C

    1) 5 -1
    2) 6

    thier difference is -1, and in C1 i want to compute the difference and show -1

    Wow, this is confusing. You are using row letters and column numbers, when it should be vice versa. It would be best if you would create an example workbook, then post up a copy.

    Well, in that simple example, in C1, you would just use:

    =B1-B2

    but what if it is like this. c and d are the result. imagine this X200 rows.

    This would be much easier if you could give me an example workbook with at least 10 rows of what you are looking for.

    Shouldnt be an issue,

    For the first one (lets say B1 and B2 in your sheet) At I1 you write =SUM(B2-B1)
    Hit enter, now copy that cell. Select J1 through N1 and paste it, the formula should copy over adjusting correctly. Paste it also in I3:N3 and it should adjust accodingly as well.

    Now with like 200 rows, you could technically just copy and paste the first row of formulas and paste it all the way down.
