Cannot copy/delete cells because they are too complex

Hi all, Im encountering a problem when I try to copy a database to another worksheet after applying an Auto filter on it I tried to copy it in many different ways. I dont know whats wrong this has never came up before the prompt Im getting is :

Microsoft Excel cannot create or use the data range reference because it is too complex.

If someone can help me with this it would be heavily appreciated!

Thanks for the help in advance and happy new years!

Why not create a copy of the sheet and use filters to make visible the rows that you don't want?

You can then use delete to get rid of these rows and hence leave you with the rows that you do want.

That is essentially what Im trying to do!

    1. autofiltering on the main excel sheet
2.copying this query to another sheet leaving me with the cells I do want

but when I try to copy in step 2 Im geting that "too complex" nonsense this never happened before, the only difference now is that my database is just alot bigger.

edit: not working< tried it many ways, now playing around with the macros, can anyone help me create a macro that moves stuff on worksheet A to worksheet B ?

I think the suggestion is that you
    • copy all the data
    • filter the copied data to expose the rows you don't want saved
    • select visible cells (in one column will do)
    • delete entire rows for selected cells.
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

Im trying to delete the rows that I do not want but the same error occurs, that it is too complex! all im doing is once I have the auto filtered values I do not need, Im doing cells.select and delete but it won't let me. I tried deleting column by column too and the same thing happens

Edit, also I am using Excel 2002 can this topic be moved to the main programming helps forum, thanks.
