    Smile color the result

    Hi everyone,
Is there a way I can color the result of a formula? The background or the text. If it is positive (exceeds the goal) It will be Dk green or the bkgd cell color will be Dk green. If the total hasn't made the goal the color would be red.
Am I able to add that function/formula to the existing formula ie=ABS(SUM(B82,B93,B104,B115,B126,B137)-6000))

    Thanks to Daddy!

You need to use FORMAT > CONDITIONAL FORMATTING. You can setup multiple conditions, up to three, so that should be plenty.

    First, set the Condition1 to:
Cell Value Is: Less than: =100 (or whatever your goal is)

    Condition2 could be:
Cell Value Is: Greater than: =100 (or whatever you want)

Click on FORMAT button for each condition and pick your color settings.

Yeah, that works. Post up a sample workbook showing it not working and we'll make it work.

    sample for color formatting

    Hi
Here is the sample. The numbers in the green box are the cells I would like to color but there are already formulas in the cells.
    Thank you,
    Suzy

Suzy, press F1 and look up Conditional Formatting. It's what you want. It changes the color of fonts and/or cell color based on the value in the cell. That value can be arrived at through a formula, too.
