    Default Date Format

I like to just enter 11/26 for todays date of 11/26/08. I know Excel will automatically assume this means 11/26/08, which it does. the problem I have is that I dislike the format that Excel choosed to display in the cell. Excel chooses to display my date as "4-Nov". I know how to change it to display it as 11/26/08 or 11/26/2008, etc., but I want to make Excel always display my dates as 11/26/08 as default.

All internet searches point me to change my date format in Regional Settings in the control panel. This does not appear to be the issue.

Please let me know if there is a way to have Excel automatically display my dates as 11/26/08 without having to type 11/26/08, because if I do type 11/26/08 it will stick, but that is a lot of extra keystokes when doing major data entry.

    Thanks, Spence

I don't think you're going to persuade Excel to do that. You can enter the last digit of the date, or use a worksheet change macro.
