    formula for changing date different colours

    Hi am after some help

    i need a formula that does the following:

    if the date is two months under the date it needs to be checked it goes yellow
    if its over two months before it needs checked it goes green
    if its passed the date it needs to be checked by it turns red

    can anyone help with this

    See CONDITIONAL FORMATTING for this.

    Here's a quick sample, look at the conditional formatting for the colored cells to see it in operation.

    yes that is what i would like it to do but is it possible to put all that information into the first cell so for example where you have put 01/12/2008 i would like that to change colour if it is possible

    Are you saying you want those dates to change based on TODAY'S date? Not some date you've entered somewhere else?

    If so, you should state that more clearly in your question. Correction posted here:

    Don't just keep posting workbooks. Open up the conditional formatting for the cells as I've displayed and examine them so you can see WHY it's working. You should be able to use conditional formatting, it's very straightforward.
