    VLOOKUP question

Not sure what to title this since I don't know what formula or option I should be using but when I tried to figure it out earlier on Microsoft's help site VLOOKUP sounded like what I need but I could be completely wrong. I can change the title better if someone could help me name it correctly?

I have a dilemma. In the first column are part numbers, the second column has the description of the corresponding part number on the left. The third column contains some of the part numbers that are in the first column. What I am trying to do is get Excel to match the numbers in column 3 to column 1 while 1 and 2 remain unchanged. Any help?

    Thx for changing the title.
Could you post an example of what you are trying to do? I don't understand

I have been trying to figure it out for the past few days and it isn't working out for me. Did anyone look at the second picture I posted? It seems extremely simple I'm just not familiar with how to use excel.
