Excel 2007 can't open *.tsv files

    Hey everyone

I’m having a problem with Excel 2007 at work. Some of our users get *.tsv files exported to them from the system. With Excel 2003, we would set it up so Excel would open those files. We never had an issue with it. Now, we’re upgrading to Excel 2007 and we can’t seem to open *.tsv files with Excel 2007. Below are the steps I’ve tried to resolve the issue. Reboots are done after un-installing and re-installing each software package.

    1 - I’ve tried repairing Excel 2007.
    2 - Uninstalling and re-installing Excel 2007.
3 - Uninstalling Office 2003 and Excel 2007, re-installing Office 2003 with Excel, tested to make sure it works and it does, then install Excel 2007.
    4 – Uninstalling Office 2003 and Excel 2007, re-installing Office 2003 without Excel, installed Excel 2007.
    5 – Uninstalling Office 2003 and Excel 2007, re-install Excel 2007 only.
6 - Logged in with a different user acct. and the same thing happens.

Has anyone ever run into this? I’m going brain dead on this one and can’t seem to make any headway on it. And searching on the Internet hasn’t pulled up much info on it either. Thanks in advance for the help.

    Played with it more... Findings...

Well, I played with it more yesterday and here are my findings.

    1) On a laptop running XP with Office 2007 Std. installed, it opens fine.
    2) On a laptop running XP with Office 2003 Std, then upgraded to Office 2007 Std., it opens fine.
    3) On a laptop running Vista with Office 2007 Std. installed, it opens fine.
    4) On a laptop running XP with Office 2003 Std., it opens fine.
    5) On a laptop running XP with Office 2003 Std., and Excel 2007, it does not open.
    6) On a laptop running XP with Just Excel 2007 installed, it does not open.

I'm wondering if it has something to do with other office applications needing to be installed. Thoughts?
