Change dates to the 1st of the Month

Hey, I am working in a large database and trying to change the date field. I want to change all the dates to the first of the month.(ie 10/19/2008 to 10/01/2008) Is there a way I can change this in excel without having to go in and manually change all the days to the first. Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thanks
