help needed on conditional formatting (2003)

hello!

i am new to excel and need some help in doing "conditional formatting" on a series of dates.

i am using excel 2003
i have a list of dates, which i want to color.
the even numbered months will have one background color
and the odd numbered months will another color

in the attached file, i have given a visual example.

please help me,
