    Pivot Table Issue

    Hi Friends,

    I have an excel spreadsheet that has a few columns and some thousand rows. the structure of the sheet is as under

    Last Name First Name Failure Reason
    ABC BBC Yes X,Y
    ABD BBD Yes X
    CBD CDD Yes X,Y,Z
    DDD DBC Yes Y

    Now I want to create a pivot from the above data and in the pivot I want to count all X's all Y's and all Z's seperately. So from the above example X = 3
    Y = 3 and Z = 1. But when I create a Pivot I get X,Y = 1, X = 1 , X,Y,Z = 1 and Y = 1.

    Is there any way where I can count how many occurances of X and Y and Z are there seperately?

    Cheers
    Manvir

    Hi,

    I think to get around this you have to create three columns for the reason and call them X , Y and Z. Then when one is applicable you have to put a value in the relevant column (e.g "X" , "TRUE" ..etc).

    This way the pivot table will count each one separately.

    Regards.
