    Fixed sidebar in Office 2007?

    Hi,

I've got some tabled data on the right, around 100 pages worth, and at the top of the document I've got some information that I often have to cross reference.

Ideally I'm after something that'll allow me to keep that right sidebar on the screen at all times, kind of like position: fixed for those that do web stuffs.

I've tried 'split' which splits the document but both sides scroll at the same time, I've also tried 'freeze panes' which doesn't work as it scrolls horizontally instead of vertically

    Thanks

Freeze panes will hold the Top and Left parts when scrolling Up/Down or Left/Right.

You can not hold a range static.
But you might get the effect you are after by having 2 instances of the workbook in view. Use the New Window option.

    View > Wnidow > New
    then Arrange.

Thank you very much for the reply Andy - shame I can't get it working in the way I'd like but will try the way you suggested.

Just curious, how do I have two instances of the same document open?

    Thanks again

    As I described.

    View > Wnidow > New
    then Arrange.
Open the workbook and make sure it is not maximized, otherwise you will only see 1 copy of the workbook as the other will be covered.

    Got it, many thanks!

Just noticed one very slight problem - if I switch sheets, the sidebar stays there, and on the same sheet, as opposed to switching, I don't suppose there's anyway around that?

    Thanks again

Don't think it possible to keep the sheets in sync.
