How to create a list dependent on the selection of data from some other list

How can I create a list dependent on the selection of data from some other list? The Issue is like if I have three categories as Fruits , vegetables and other stuffs and under those three categories, few items are there.

fruits Vegetables Other Stuffs
Apples cabbage Meat
Oranges Carrots Egg
Lemons Beets
Grapes

So i want to create data validation list such that when i select fruit, only fruit names may appear, and likewise for vegetables and other stuffs.

I found contextures to be very confusing.

In short, I did some research on how to use the INDIRECT formula, and was able to solve for creating dependent dropdown lists. HTH
