choosing font size in a data validation list

hi i have a workbook with several d v lists in which all but 1 open 'readable'. a single date list on a work sheet opens with a tiny font size. i think this happens because of the large form size on the page and I'm viewing it in 75% mag. so that it's visible on the screen. is there a way to set the list to a larger size? the form right now is all size 12 letters...except for this box.
while i'm here how do i set the workbook to always open on the first tab? thank you, Brian
