    Formual problem - Payments made to date

    Hi All,

    I am having trouble with a formula.

    What it is that I have is dates running down "column a". we make 2 monthly payments to our cleints on the 1st and 15th. The values of the payments are in "column b".

    We know what we will be paying out each month for example £5000 on the 15th December. We also have a summary of estimated payments for year in "cell b2", actual payments to date are in "cell b3" and outstanding in "cell b4".

    What I am looking for is a formula in "cell B3" that will say something along this - if today is equal to or greater than any cells in column A add all of the values from column b until you reach a date not past today. This will stop me having to recalculate this formula every 2 weeks.

    I hope this makes some sense to you guys!!!

    Regards,
    Jon

    Try SUMIF

    =SUMIF(A:A,"<="&TODAY(),B:B)

    Edit: Jon, I noticed you posted this twice in two different forums so I deleted the other post, please post in only one forum, thanks
