Using a formula linked to a merged cell

Is there a way to make a column of cells that links to another column but so that the row being linked increases by 3 each time instead of 1.

    i.e.

    Column A

    Row 1: =B1
    Row 2: =B4
    Row 3: =B7
    Row 4: =B10

    etc., etc.

Whenever I try to drag down the formula, the order gets mixed up.

    Thanks for any help!

I take it cells B1, B2 and B3 are merged into a single cell? And then B4, B5 and B6 are merged, etc as you go down the worksheet?

If that's the case, I don't think you can do what I think you're describing without also merging A1, A2 and A3 into a single cell, A4/A5/A6 merged, etc - then having the formula in A1 be "=B1", then copy it down over the other merged cells in column A would give you what you're describing.

Cells in A would have to be merged to mirror the merging you're doing in column B for that to work (again, if I understand you correctly).
