    conditional formatting (need 10 colors)

I have a scoring sheet that I need to color the final placings according to ribbon colors (normally 1 - 10).

I am using Excel 2003 and Conditional Formatting only gives 3 conditions. I have seen VBA code before, but I cannot get it to work.

    Help please!

    Simple format

the format of the sheet is really simple

    Just imagine a couple columns:

    Name Final Placing

    Mark 2
    Joe 3
    Fred 6
    Gene 7
    Sue 9
    Ken 4
    Sandy 5
    Mary 1
    Rosa 8
    Susan 10

I need the colors to go from Blue (1st place) to Pale Blue (Last Place)

Sorry but if you can't be bothered to upload a proper example I can't be bothered to help.

    Good luck with your problem

So you won't upload the example and now you won't share your solution

    Solution

Yes, I got it solved, but after your last comment, it seemed you did not want to help, so I just posted that I got it solved do that no one would keep pursuing a solution.

Actually, I had posted a similar question back in April of 2007. I went back yesterday and tried inserting the VBA code supplied by Old Chippy. At first, nothing happened. After I posted my question, I went back to the worksheet and copied the worksheet to another name and viola, the placings were coming back exactly like I wanted them. Thus I posted my "Never mind..."
