Hi

Very new to this but in real need of help using excel 2003.

I am trying to compare 2 worksheets and find matching data then pick another set of data from a different cell...example

worksheet1
a b c d
1 north 7958 steve

worksheet2
a b c d e f g
steve 6 red green 7958 brian 1000


=lookup(c3,worksheet2!$e$3:$e562,worksheet2!$g$3:$g562) I have got this formula that works ok if I am searching one line of data and comparing to another, but when I try it on worksheets that both contain hundreds of lines it doesnt work. it seem to pick the nearest piece of data to it, but I want it to show nothing if nothing is matched.

You can see I am trying to match the number 7958 that is present on both worksheets and when it matches I want to display the figure on the same line in column g. So the display answer should be 1000.

please help
