Copying formatting to cells from sheet to sheet

Just working on a calendar of events for work and have a couple questions.

    1) Is it possible to copy formatting of a cell (ie: shading, outlining, merging and text) to another worksheet and how is this done? I understand how to copy a cells contents from worksheet to worksheet (=Sheet2!J17), but is it possible to copy the cell's formatting as well?

Essentially, one worksheet will be the master document which will be a consolidation of events from other worksheets. So when someone adds an event in a cell in one worksheet, we want the same cells in the master sheet exactly the same which means including formatting as many cells are colour coded.

    Help is needed!!!

    Thanks so much!

When you change the formatting of one sheet, it will not automatically change the formatting of all the dependents of that sheet on other sheets. It would require some coding (VBA/programming) to do that. Alternately, you'd need to paste the new formatting to the other cells using Paste Special.

If we are talking about identical tables on identical sheets, you can group the sheets by holding down the CONTRL and clicking on all the tabs you wish to change at once. Then whatever you change on the active sheet will be changed on all the grouped sheets (Remember to unGroup them when done!!!)

Yep, makes sense. As discussed above, if you are going back and changing the formatting after the fact, there's no formula or function that will take that formatting from Sheet1!A1 and apply it to Sheet2!A1. You could group them and change the formatting at the same time or you could repaste (special) the formatting to the other sheet or you could have one of the VBA gurus (I'm a novice) write some code that does it for you.
    No easy answer here.
