    Read-only?

I have created and finished my workbook successfuly. I have one minor issue and one major. The minor issue has been addressed in a different thread.

The major issue I am having has to do with not being able to use it when a copy of the workbook is opened on my cell phone/pda.

I have read thru many of the topics on protection/unprotecting worksheets/cells and have not seen this specific issue arise elsewhere.

The steps I have taken for protecting the worksheet are:

1.Password protected every block as a whole via select-all. - Locked and Hidden checked -

    2. Manually unlocked all row/column/cells necessary for variable input.

    3. Of the 4 sheets in the workbook, two are protected (via "protect sheet") allowing users to "select locked cells" and "select unlocked cells" only.
    - The other two sheets allow users to only "select unlocked cells"

The result works perfectly when using the workbook on the computer it was writen on.

When I put a copy of the workbook on my mobile device (cell phone/pda) it sends me a message indicating a "read-only" file and I am unable to modify anything. Including the cells I have left unprotected.

I have checked the properties of the file on the computer and the attributes "read-only" and "hidden" are not selected. Under Advanced Attributes the boxes "File is ready for archiving" and "For fast searching, allow Indexing Service to index this file" are the only two boxes checked off.
I have attempted to uncheck these boxes with no change.

When the file has been copied to the storage card on my mobile device, the "read-only" attribute is not checked. "Archive" is checked and also grayed out making it unable to change.

The only thing I can come up with is that I am doing something wrong while protecting the sheets and need to allow something that I am not. Or maybe I need to change a setting within Excel before saving it to stop this from happening.

Please help me solve this issue or tell me if it is not possible.

I am using Office 2007 Pro on an XP Platform
