How do you create simple add/subtract formula?

Hello,

I want to create an excel spreed sheet which will do the following.

Column A will contain item name

Column B will contain either a deposit or debit

Column C will either add or subtract value entered into column B against current balance in Column C

What I want to be able to do and/or see is the values in column C automatically filled/processed/calculated when dollar values are entered into column B.

How can this be achieved?
