Why don't the link cell updated with new data?

I have a workbook with multiple worksheet. Data in all supporting worksheet feed information through link cell to "Summary" worksheet. However, the new data did not reflect in the Summary worksheet. The refresh and calc button didn't work. I even closed the file and re-opened, updated, and the new data were not flow through. I have to retyped the same formula or re-link in order to have new data show through. My Summary worksheet is huge and it will be nightmare to re-write the link each time. What is the problem with this?

    Thanks.

Have you tried <F9> to recalculate the values?

This can also be permanently set to recalculate values on the fly by going to Tools=>Options and choosing Calculation. Set the value to Automatic.

There's also the Calc Sheet button.

Hmm - I'm running out of ideas here, but a quick surf of the internet drummed up the following. Try looking at http://stason.org/TULARC/business/sp...eadsheets.html. He suggests trying [Alt] & F9 or even [Ctrl] & [Alt] & F9. It also suggests adding a small amount of VBA code to force update each time you change cell.

There's also another useful link at http://exceltips.vitalnews.com/Pages...lculation.html which suggests looking at the order that the calculations are set. This one also suggests saving the data to an HTML file and then importing it back in. I have seen good results with that kind of approach before.

If you still have no joy, then try posting a cut down version of the file on this site and (no promises!!) I'll take a look.

    Regards
    Martin
