    Stopwatch/timer

Is there a way to create a stopwatch/timer in Excel that has a start/stop button that a user can click on, and then the timer keeps a running total that can be used in a formula?

    Good morning Huwbob

Does this suit? It's just a dummy routine that does nothing but count to 500,000,000 and then report how long it took :

How do you want to use this in a formula? A stopwatch will have to be created using VBA & will stop other processes whilst running.
    Hope that helps.

I've attached the current sheet we use, but our new phone system now won't tell our operators how much time they have spent in each of our idle codes. What I want to do is to use the same sheet but have a start and stop button next to the boxes so that they can click on and off to record their time.

Hope this makes sense. I'm not a VB expert, so will need some help to create it if it's possible!

    Keep it simple

Hows about a very simple macro as follows:

Change "B2" for the required cell, have one for a start cell and one for a finish cell, assign the macros to buttons, take the difference and thats your duration.

    Re: Stopwatch/timer

    Hi,

I am new to excel and this forum.

Needed help. I want to create a stopwatch/timer using excel that would have a "ok" tab which when clicked starts a timer and when clicked again stops the timer. if it is clicked again it starts the timer from where it stopped just like a 24 hour stopwatch and should have a reset button which would bring it to zero. is there a simple way to do it and also keep it simple to use.

    Thanks for your help

First: Suggest you start a new thread rather than jump on one that is several years old.

Second: A quick search of this forum would have resulted in finding the following thread from a couple of days ago.
