    Format Shape in buttons

    Excel 2007
I have a spreadsheet created by someone else with several buttons, each calls a macro. When I right click on the macro the last selection on the menu is 'Format Shape'. I have a need to create additional buttons, but on my buttons I do not get format shape. How can I get this option?

    Thanks

If your button is a command button you will not get format shape, is it a button or a shape on your sheet?

Hi, Thanks for your prompt reply.

It is not a command button. Created from ..... Developer, controls, insert, buttons (Form control). I assign macros to these.

Its a button, is there another way of doing this? I have attached the spreadsheet for reference.

The buttons in your workbook are from the Forms control toolbox.
And using the method you describe should create new buttons that you can assign a macro to.

Or you could just copy the existing buttons and re-assign a macro.

    Andy thanks for your response.

I am able to assign macros successfully, I want to use format shape but do not get this option on new buttons I add to the spreadsheet, the originals have this when you right click. Any idea how I can get the 'Format Shape' option on the buttons.

Take a look at the attached, the buttons in yellow has this option, the non yellow do not.

Your Frontend2.xls does not have a Yellow button.

All of the shapes that look like buttons are buttons and have the Format Control menu item.
If the menu item is Format Shape then the shape is an autoshape, of which there is one that looks like a button.

    I apologise.

The buttons I am referring to are labelled 'RUN'. If you right click you will see the last option is Format Shape. Whereas the button marked GIT.... does not have this option.

Your example has 7 buttons, labeled RUN,RUN,RUN,RUN,Button 5,Button 6,Button 7. And a shape which is a Pentagon Arrow autoshape.

Are we talking about the same file?

    Yes Frontend2

The buttons marked RUN have the 'Format Shape' option when right click
The Button marked 'GIT.xls to CSV does not shoe 'Format Shape' option on right click.

Andy, are you opening this spreadsheet in Excel 2007? Using 2003 does give different result.

    Yes 2007.

Sorry but those button say Format Control.

Try downloading the file you posted and check whether the file is the same and that the problem persists.

The last file contains autoshapes from the Drawing ToolBar with macros assigned, not Buttons from the Forms ToolBar or Controls toolBox
    Hope that helps.

Insert > Shapes > Rounded Rectangle.

Apply Style, Subtle Effect Accent 6.
Edit text and add "Run" wording.

    Right click and assign macro.
