Digital signatures

Hey Guys,

I made my own digital signature using selfcert.exe and signed a macro with this. I just found out that if I change the code later on, the signature can be removed. It says on the MS Excel Help page that for this I need a 'proper' certificate.


"However, if you have the proper digital certificate on your computer, the macro project will automatically be resigned when saved."


Do they mean I should get a digital certificate from a VeriSign or a company that issues such certificates?

If the code will only be run on your machine then you don't to sign the project. If you plan to distribute the code, for sale, or just on a local network then you will need to spend the money to get a certificate from a company like VeriSign (unless your company is willing to pay for it). By the way, these are not inexpensive. So be sure you really need one before you spend any money.
